Recently, our sanctuary in Northern Colorado experienced an unexpected and devastating storm. Hurricane-force winds moved through the area with little warning, leaving behind significant damage to the infrastructure we rely on every day to care for our horses.

Fencing was impacted. Shelter areas were compromised. Essential structures that provide safety and stability were suddenly at risk.

For a place built on creating security and consistency, the effects were deeply felt.

And yet, through it all, the horses remain at the center of our focus.

These mustangs have already endured so much before arriving here — uncertainty, displacement, and transition. Freedom Acres exists to give them something different: a place where they can finally experience stability and care.

Moments like this remind us how important that mission truly is.

Rebuilding is already underway, but the scope of the damage means we cannot do it alone. Restoring safe fencing, repairing shelter, and ensuring the sanctuary remains a secure environment for the horses will take time, resources, and community support.
